DIY Interior Design

Oct 24 2010

I am having great fun playing interior designer at the moment with my parents’ bathroom. It is like being on one of those home improvement shows on TV.

It is actually much easier coming up with ideas for someone else’s house, because you are less emotionally attached. Also, it is not your money you are spending, so it is less stressful!

I have found some fantastic mosaic travertine tiles for the bathroom walls, which I think my parents are going to love. They obviously don’t have to use my ideas, but I think they will be big fans of these tiles. Continue Reading »

Travertine Basins

Sep 25 2010

I am going to splash out – no pun intended – on a travertine basin for my downstairs cloakroom.

It is actually not much more expensive than a regular hand basin, but so much more stylish and elegant.

I was quite happy to choose a regular basin/sink until I started looking around on some websites. I came across some fabulous travertine basins and I just can’t look back now. Continue Reading »

Conservatory Interior Design

Aug 25 2010

I am looking for a fabulous travertine table for my conservatory.

We had the conservatory built last year, but I have been reluctant to put furniture in it until I could find something I really liked. And I can be quite difficult to please.

I searched the internet and came across travertine tables. They are so unusual but very stylish. They look a bit like marble. Travertine comes in lots of different shades, so there are plenty of designs to choose from. Continue Reading »

Travertine Interior Design

Jun 25 2010

I think there is something about travertine that gives a room a Zen-like feeling – a feeling of serenity and beauty.

My friend is trying to create this kind of atmosphere in the back room of her house, which she is planning to use for her business, offering beauty treatments.

I came across travertine tables when I was helping her research what furniture she wanted for the room. I had heard of travertine tiles, but did not realise you could get tables in the same material. Continue Reading »

Take flooring, for instance.  There are so many types of flooring out there that it is hard to make a final decision.
A popular choice of flooring among homeowners and developers are travertine tiles.  These offer you a stunning range of neutral colours that range from pale yellow to a reddish brown.  These variations in colour are due to the composition of impurities and iron in the stone. Continue Reading »

If you are looking for a particular theme, then you will want to choose windows that suit the style of your room. As well as the look of the windows, you will also need to think about other issues such as how much light you want the windows to allow in. Natural Stone Floors Stand the Test of Time

Jan 16 2010

If nature made it, then chances are it will last longer.

Selecting natural stone flooring over commercially-made ones should be an easy decision, with natural floors coming out the winner. And why not? Many floors of ancient structures are still in place and they were made out of natural stone materials. A surprising fact is that natural stone floors actually strengthen and insulate more effectively as time passes. Continue Reading »
